How to get a Community grant?

A project requesting a European Commission grant must fulfil the following criteria:

1. Online and interactive Media

The project must involve using the Internet or other online media for learning and teaching, either by applying this technology within the project, or by organising information events about this topic (e.g. open days).

2. Pedagogical Value

The project must demonstrate a clear educational or cultural value for a broad community. It should be based on a sound pedagogical approach involving teachers, trainers and/or youth workers.

3. European added-value

The project must be carried out in co-operation with a network of different partners from at least three different European countries or any partners from Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway. For instance, partnerships between teachers/trainers, students/apprentices and parents; between educational/vocational training bodies and regional companies; between different types of schools from different countries in Europe; between libraries from different regions; between cultural organisations; between youth organisations. Additional partners from applicant countries for the EU are particularly welcome.

4. Diffusion and multiplier effect

Proposed methods and expected results must be easily and broadly diffused as models for others. To replicate and to optimise awareness, projects must be based on active public relations and promotion to clearly identified target groups (e.g. media coverage plan, open door activities, promotional material, such as leaflets, flyers, posters, video, CD-ROM).

5. Schedule of activities in Netd@ys framework

Main activities have to take place during the Netd@ys week (20 to 27 November 2000). Exceptions are allowed under special circumstances (e.g. school holidays during this period).

6. Clear project management plan

Detailed description of the project is required on:

objectives and target groups of the project

activities planned

participating organisations and persons

information on joint agreements and partnerships

communication and promotional plan

budget (estimated expenditure and revenue) and the amount requested from the EC. The budget must be indicated in Euro.

justification for an EC grant.

Financial support, of at least 20,000 Euro, will be given to umbrella projects involving a maximum of partners, potential participants and audience from different countries.

Important

EC funding will be allocated only for awareness-raising and promotional activities.

The purchase of hardware or software equipment is not eligible for co-financing in the framework of the present call for proposals.

The Community grant will only constitute up to 50% of the total cost of a project.
